Agriculture in the Shang Dynasty had moved beyond the primitive stage of slash-and-burn agriculture. Agricultural production at this time included clearing, ploughing, planting, managing, harvesting, storing and other key steps, which are reflected in the oracle bones. On this bone fragment, there is the remnant of an inscription, "King’s Order on Collective Farming." This fragment reflects that the Shang kings attached great importance to agricultural activities. They personally instructed specific work such as ploughing and carried out divination.
