The Bone Flute is made of the long bones of wading birds with seven round holes on the side. More than 20 flutes of this type were excavated. Besides numerous seven-hole flutes, there are also flutes with five, six and eight holes.

These bone flutes were the earliest musical instruments in China, which indicates that as far back as the Peiligang culture period in the mid-Neolithic era, people had already begun to practice music and successfully produced musical instruments. (By: Wang Yueqian)
