On November 28, 2025, the ceremony marking the inclusion of artifacts from Pakistan's Karot Hydropower Project into the collection of the National Museum of China was held at the NMC. Luo Wenli, Director of the NMC, Chen Chengjun, Executive Deputy Director of the NMC, and Wu Shengliang, Vice President of China Three Gorges Corporation, attended the event.

The Karot Hydropower Project was invested in and constructed by China Three Gorges Corporation. It is the first large-scale hydropower investment project under the Belt and Road Initiative and a flagship energy cooperation project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The project began operation in June 2022, with a total installed capacity of 720,000 kilowatts and an average annual power generation of approximately 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours, meeting the electricity needs of more than five million local residents. The project has received multiple honors in Pakistan, including the Corporate Social Responsibility Awards and the Awards for Biodiversity Conservation.

At the ceremony, Luo Wenli reviewed the course of cooperation between the two sides in recent years and expressed appreciation for China Three Gorges Corporation's support for the development of the cultural heritage and museum sector. Luo noted that the Karot Hydropower Project is a major landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative and has become a new symbol of China-Pakistan friendship in the new era. The 23 items (sets) included in the collection document China's achievements in foreign engagement and development in the new era, further enriching the museum's collections and exhibitions. He also expressed the hope that the two sides would continue to strengthen cooperation and jointly tell compelling stories of the Belt and Road Initiative and China's engagement with the world.
Wu Shengliang stated that the construction and operation of the Karot Hydropower Project fully applied Chinese technologies and standards, serving as a demonstration of China Three Gorges Corporation's efforts to integrate and internationalize China's entire hydropower industry chain. The corporation has carried out clean energy investment projects in more than a dozen countries across Europe, Latin America, South Asia, and Africa, forming key hydropower and wind power markets in Pakistan and Brazil, as well as new energy markets in Europe and the Americas with EDP of Portugal as an important partner. Looking ahead, China Three Gorges Corporation will continue to deepen cooperation with the National Museum of China and work together to tell the story of how China's green practices contribute to global sustainable development.
