On August 27, 2025, the exhibition Where Civilizations Meet: Collections from Museums of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States opened at the National Museum of China (NMC). With the support of the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the exhibition is jointly organized by national museums and cultural institutions from the nine SCO member states, including Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. It is part of NMC's "2025 National Exhibitions" program.

Themed on the SCO's Shanghai Spirit of "respect for diversity of civilizations and pursuit of common development", the exhibition presents a total of 220 pieces (units) of precious cultural relics from 10 leading museums and cultural institutions of the SCO member states. These exhibits include emblematic artifacts that represent the origins, development, and evolution of ancient civilizations in each country, as well as representative objects reflecting historical exchanges, interactions, and fusions among the states. Like dazzling stars scattered across a vast galaxy, these ancient artifacts and artworks on display illuminate the rich histories of the great civilizations that have flourished across the Eurasian continent. They vividly showcase the unique charm of the SCO member states' splendid civilizations while bearing witness to the continuous dialogue, mutual learning, and harmonious coexistence of different cultures over the course of history, underscoring the shared commitment of all member states to promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

The exhibition offers visitors a journey across millennia, tracing the roots of diverse civilizations, appreciating the wisdom of cultural diversity, and celebrating the enduring brilliance of human civilization: "Each culture celebrates its own unique beauty, and together all cultures create a shared beauty."

The exhibition is on view in Galleries N1 and N2 of the National Museum of China and will remain open to the public until November 16.
