The Ancient Shu Civilization is one of the origins of ancient Chinese civilization named after the ethic group. The discovery of the two burial pits at Sanxingdui in the 1980s unveiled the mystery of ancient Shu civilization. From the pits were dug out such exotic bronze ware as figures, portraits, altars and divine trees together with exquisite gold foil products like masks and ornaments with animal motifs, which amazed the world. After the discovery of Jinsha Site in the beginning of the 21st century, the emergence of such significant cultural relics as the Solar Divine Bird gold foil, gold mask, gold band, bronze standing figurine, stone tiger and stone figure as well as the discovery of a lot of jade ware and bronze ware for ritual purposes manifests another stretch of the glorious history of ancient Shu civilization. This exhibition gives a comprehensive display of ancient Shu civilization through the cultural relics unearthed from Sanxingdui Site, Jinsha Site and many tombs dating to the Warring States Period. It not only combs through different stages of ancient Shu civilization by following the timeline, but more importantly demonstrates the gorgeous bronze civilization’s unique contribution to the creation of Chinese civilization and the historical process about how Shu was all-roundly integrated into Chinese civilization along with the development of the projects represented by Dujiangyan Irrigation Project after Qin annexed Ba and Shu in 316 BC. It is believed that the visitors will feel the long history and proud culture of Shu and gain a glimpse into the pluralistic integration of Chinese civilization.
