The Chinese nation is a great nation. It has seen numerous heroes coming forth in large numbers since ancient times. In modern times, revolutionary martyrs, heroes of the times, and exemplary models emerged one after another for national independence and people's freedom despite repeated failures, forging ahead with selflessness and dedication for national prosperity and people's happiness. These images are vivid textbooks of the 100-year-long history of the Communist Party of China. They are also spiritual treasures for the Chinese people on their road of rejuvenation by pursuing Chinese modernization. This exhibition is one of the major initiatives by the National Museum of China (NMC) to promote the spirit of these role models throughout the entire society.

The art of wax figures is a form of hyper-realistic sculptural art. Thirty wax figures of role models have been selected for this exhibition from over 200 waxworks housed in the NMC. They comprise revolutionary pioneers who dedicated their lives to China's cause, model workers who contributed selflessly, literary and artistic giants who produced excellent works for the people, scientists who dedicated themselves to their motherland, public servants who always put the people in their hearts, and role models of the times who worked hard and assiduously. The wax figures are presented with artistic scene design, display of objects related to these heroes and role models, interpretations of their inspirational quotes, and narration of their heroic deeds. These various methods are used to reenact these heroic and model figures' touching stories and charismatic qualities. They showcase how these individuals have journeyed alongside their motherland and the times, working tirelessly on various fronts for the cause of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

A nation of hope cannot be without heroes, and a promising country cannot be without pioneers. The best way to cherish the memory of role models is to carry forward their unaccomplished cause. The new era is in greater need of role models and their spirits. The NMC has long been committed to organizing exhibitions with Chinese elements in vivid forms for the benefit of the visitors. It is our heartfelt hope that this exhibition will enable visitors to enjoy the art of wax figures, and in the meantime, the exemplary qualities of Chinese heroes and role models can be appreciated, their contributions remembered, and ideals and beliefs strengthened.
