A man without spirit cannot stand, and a country without spirit cannot be strong. Spirit is the soul of a nation, and only when it reaches certain heights can the nation stand firm and move forward with the flow of history. A hundred years ago, the pioneers of Communism in China established the Communist Party of China (CPC) and developed the great founding spirit of the Party, which is comprised of the following principles: upholding truth and ideals, staying true to the original aspiration and founding mission, fighting bravely without fear of sacrifice, and remaining loyal to the Party and faithful to the people. This spirit is the Party’s source of strength.

Over the past hundred years, the CPC has carried forward the great founding spirit of the Party and forged a great spiritual legacy. This includes the spirit of the first revolutionary base in the Jinggang Mountains, the spirit of the Long March, the spirit of the Zunyi Meeting, the spirit of Yan’an, the spirit of Xibaipo, the spirit of the revolutionaries at the Red Crag, the spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea, the spirit of “Two Bombs, One Satellite,” the spirit of the special economic zones, the spirit of combating the flood of 1998, the spirit of disaster relief, the spirit of combating COVID-19, and the spirit of the fight against poverty. Through the CPC’s protracted struggles, it has developed a long line of inspiring principles for Chinese Communists and tempered a distinct political character.

This exhibition uses paintings and sculptures as a medium to deliver an artistic presentation of the revolutionary pioneers’ unremitting and dauntless fight, and the people’s tenacious and innovative struggle to build the People’s Republic of China from scratch. The power of faith, the spirit of dedication, the courage to work hard and the vigor to forge ahead possessed by these individuals are a true reflection of the spiritual strength of the Chinese Communists, providing abundant nourishment for the founding, developing and strengthening of the Party.

As history has moved ever forward, the spirit of the Party has been passed on from generation to generation. We will continue to promote our glorious traditions and sustain our revolutionary legacy through protracted struggles, so that the great founding spirit of the Party will always be kept alive and carried forward. We will remain firmly dedicated to this great spirit, build a solid foundation of faith, maintain the ideological direction, and use the power of spirit to become more virtuous, industrious and talented. We will continue to write a new spiritual epic and compose a new chapter in the long line of inspiring principles for Chinese Communists. We will also unite as one and work hard to help achieve the two centenary goals and make unremitting efforts to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
