Mr. Zhang Daqian is a Chinese master of painting in the 20th century, as well as one of the most representative and influential artists at home and abroad. His extraordinary life experiences and outstanding artistic creations have attracted worldwide attention. “Zhang Daqian Art Exhibition” is sponsored by the NMC together with Sichuan Museum and Rong Bao Zhai.
The exhibition features 100-plus pieces/sets of artwork that are displayed in five parts: New Insights from Existing Works, Emulations of Dunhuang Murals, Collections of the Antique Shop, Friends and Tutors of Daqian, and Seals of Daqian. The exhibition shows Zhang Daqian’s artistic journey in a systematic manner. Among the exhibits are his masterpieces, such as “Longquan Temple Painting”, “Clouds over Huashan Mountain” and “A Copy of Late Tang Illustration of Raudraksa’s Battle with Sariputra”, along with his precious collection of ancient paintings, like “Martial Officer and Caged Goose” by Chen Hongshou (a Chinese painter of the late Ming dynasty) and “Clear-up after Snow in Chang’an” by Shi Tao (a Chinese landscape painter in the early Qing Dynasty). The exhibition will help visitors develop a better understanding of Zhang Daqian’s artistic accomplishments.
