The Uniqueness of Zhou Dynasty Artifacts: Archaeological Finds from Liujiawa, Shaanxi Province

Located in Chengcheng County, Shaanxi Province, the Liujiawa site was a major crossroad at an ancient battlefield between the Qin State and the Jin State. Over 200 tombs have been found in the graveyards, including two high-level large tombs in the shape of Chinese character “中”, as well as horse & chariot pits, town sites and residential sites, where artifacts including bronze ritual and music objects, horse and chariot devices, gold and jade ware were excavated. The information of the bronze inscriptions show that the site was once one of the central zones of Rui, an important vassal state in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. The exhibition gives the visitors a glimpse into the mysterious ancient Rui state.
