On September 18th, Mr. Wang Chunfa, director of the National Museum of China (the NMC), met with Mr. Evelio Acevedo, the managing director of the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum of Spain, and they made cordial talks.

During their talks, Mr. Acevedo expressed his great pleasure to visit the National Museum of China. As the managing director of the Thyssen Museum, he has always attached great importance to the exchanges with China. He sincerely hopes to co-hold an exhibition with the National Museum of China to bring the collections of the Thyssen Museum to the Chinese audience. He said that the collections of the Thyssen Museum has never left Spain, and if they were to be exhibited at the National Museum of China, it would be the first time that the Thyssen Museum has ever gone abroad, which would be of great significance.

Mr. Wang Chunfa welcomed the visit of director Acevedo and his team to the NMC. He told the Spanish guests that the Chinese museum industry is developing rapidly. The National Museum of China has received more than 8 million visits in 2017. It is among the most popular museums in the world. It is undoubtedly a correct decision for the Thyssen Museum to cooperate with the National Museum of China. For a long time, the National Museum of China has paid great attention to exchanges and cooperation with the international museum community, and welcomes projects for exhibition exchanges and cooperation from Europe. The Thyssen Museum is invited to hold an exhibition in China to bring its best collections to the Chinese audience.

After the talks, Mr. Acevedo and his team visited the large-scale theme exhibition - “The Road of Rejuvenation - New Era”.
