To greet the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the NMC, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong SAR Government and Hong Kong Museum of History jointly have held the exhibition on the Road of Modernization – The Republic, 70 Years On.

Modernization represents the historical trend of social development and the essential condition for national independence and prosperity. It is Chinese people’s long-cherished dream to achieve modernization since the start of modern era. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and especially over the four decades since the start of reform and opening-up, Chinese people have made remarkable achievements in the modernization drive through incessant strenuous efforts, as reflected in the tremendous changes in the economic and social landscape of the country. China has caught up with the times; the Chinese nation has stood up, and has become rich and strong, striding ahead towards the grand goal of great rejuvenation of the nation. China’s achievements embody China’s wisdom and contribute China’s solution to the modern world development. The exhibition features about 210 pieces/sets of valuable cultural heritage, works of art and models, 230 historical photos, interesting videos and multi-media interaction programs, which vividly display the key decision-making, development stages and achievements in the process of China’s modernization, and Chinese people’s ceaseless self-improvement in building the socialist modern country and trying to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The visitors to the exhibition can learn about the progress and achievements in the modernization drive of China over the 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, gain a better understanding about the country and have more confidence in and strength for building an even better future.
