The China Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Arts & Crafts has been held three times at the National Museum of China in 2012, 2014 and 2016. It is a national non-profit exhibition that showcases the level of contemporary arts and crafts creation.

In the theme of “Promoting the Classic to New Glory”, this year’s biennial exhibition presents more than 900 excellent works created by national and provincial arts and crafts masters, national and provincial intangible cultural heritage inheritors, and young arts and crafts creators. The exhibits include jade carving, stone carving, wood carving, metal art, cloth weaving, dyeing and embroidery, lacquerware, glass, Thangka, and traditional artistic furniture. Meanwhile, China Arts and Crafts Galley will exhibit some of its collections this year, including the representative works by arts and crafts masters and elderly craftsmen of different periods since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The exhibition will fully display the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese arts and crafts in the contemporary time and will play a demonstrative and guiding role in carrying forward the fine traditional culture of the Chinese nation and leading the development of contemporary arts and crafts.
