In July 1921, the Communist Party of China (CPC) was founded in the heartland of China that was precariously beset by internal and external problems. In order to rescue the people from danger and save the nation from severe disasters, the Chinese Communists fought fiercely, persevering and overcoming great hardships. Over the past century, the CPC has led the Chinese people through the New Democratic Revolution, the socialist revolution and construction, the new period of reform and opening up and socialist modernization. After completing the long journey of “standing up” and “getting rich,” it has led the people into a new era of “becoming strong.” The CPC has opened up the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, achieved the astonishing goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and planned magnificent long-term goals.
The China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the National Museum of China, the National Library of China and the China Calligraphers Association are jointly holding the exhibition “Great Cause: Calligraphy Exhibition to Celebrate the Centenary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China 1921-2021” to pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. The exhibition also serves to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important statements on learning the histories of the Party, New China, the reform and opening up, and socialist development, eulogize the outstanding contributions and achievements of the CPC, and demonstrate the Party’s original intention and mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
A total of 306 themed calligraphy works are on show, making it a grand Party history-themed calligraphy exhibition with a correct political orientation, authentic historical materials and universal appeal. This exhibition also uses a holistic, connected and open approach and the curatorial methods of “narrating on the macro level” and “describing on the micro level” to construct a collective creation mode centered on the expression of thematic ideas, practicing the core socialist values in the process of inheriting traditions and making innovations. It adopts the curatorial concepts of immersive feeling, experiential writing and thematic creation to solidly carry out practical activities under the principle of “diving deep into real life and taking root in the people.”
