On November 27, 1931, the first meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Soviet Republic of China elected Mao Zedong as chairman and Xiang Ying and Zhang Guotao as vice chairmen, declaring the formal establishment of the temporary central government of the Soviet Republic of China, since when this seal was enabled. During the Long March, the wooden handle of the seal was sawed off for the need of a lighter burden. After the Xi’an Incident, the second cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China was established, and the Central Committee of the CPC issued a statement on July 8, 1937 that the Chinese Soviet Government was to be renamed “Government of Special Area of the Republic of China”. The seal was then kept by the government of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region under the chairmanship of Lin Boqu. In 1947, asked for a lighter burden before the Central Committee of the CPC withdrew from Yan’an, Lin Boqu burned his diaries of years but kept this seal. As he said, “the seal of revolution should never be thrown away”. In September 1959, Lin Boqu donated it.
