This is a gift from Cambodia to the Qing government in the 18th century. Cambodia abounds in historical tales, legends and myths. Some of the best known are “The Tale of a Banded Krait”, “A Tale of Thunder and Lightning”, “Tales of Mosquitoes”, and “The Tale of a Golden Deer”, which is the theme of the design on this silver bowl.
